I’m working with Mc Luhan theme (2.26.3). In PDF exports, the TOC title is in english even if my book is in french. Is there something to configure to have it translated in exports ? (my Pressbooks instance is in french and french is selected in the Book informations section)
I’ve tried to change it in CSS but it’s not working
Hi Charlotte. We are creating two versions of a book - one in English the other in Spanish. As there are nuances to consider when text is being translated into another language, we will be using a translation tool to do the bulk of the work followed by human translation. The tool we will be using is DeepL Pro Translation.
Hi Charlotte, could you specify which version of French you have set your book to? I just noticed that the translation does not work properly when French (Canada) is chosen. It does work if French is chosen. Our team will look into making sure that it will also work for French (Canada) in the future.
@Waltonl My problem with the translation is that the TOC is generated by the plugin so i can’t write the title of it myself and it’s generated in English, but thanks anyway
@MichSpieler It is in French (no specification) but i tried all the other French (luxembourg, belgium, switzerland, canada and monaco), the TOC title remains in english. I also tried spanish and italian to check if it was a problem with my pressbook installation but with these languages it works, i have Contenido and Contenuti instead of Contents…
hi @RmbxCh we want to make sure we can replicate your issue ourselves. It sounds like the word “Contents” is not being printed in French for your EPUB and PDF exports. Is that correct? Can you share a quick screenshot of the page or pages that are affected just so we make sure we look in the right place for the right thing while looking into this further with our tech team?
That’s correct : on both EPUB and PDF exports, the title of the TOC is printed in english instead of french. Other pages like the colophon are translated correctly in french but not the TOC. Here is the french version of the TOC :
Glad you found the issue. I was going to suggest something similar – as long as the theme has the translated string in your desired language and you’re using the latest language files, the word ‘Contents’ should be rendered in the desired target language.
