Individual Catalogue Feature

Hi all,

I’m trying to find information on how to direct users on our network to create and edit their own individual “catalogue” page, and I’m forgetting if this is a feature that has been discontinued? For instance, if I go to uw.pressbooks.pub/catalog/USERNAME I can see an individual user’s public catalog, but I cannot find information in the Pressbooks User Guide or Network Manager’s guide on how to change which titles “show in catalogue” or edit other information. Ex: here is the catalogue page of a faculty member at our institution. https://uw.pressbooks.pub/catalog/jennilee

Has this feature been discontinued or am I missing something? Thanks!

-Lauren

Hi @olray, the “my catalog” feature is still available, however, it will be deprecated later this year as per the post below.

When you are logged into the network, this link https://[pressbooks domain]/wp/wp-admin/index.php?page=pb_catalog will take you to the user catalog page and there are instructions to Show/Hide books on that page. Your own catalog page can be viewed at https://uw.pressbooks.pub/wp/wp-admin/index.php?page=pb_catalog when you are logged in.

Our support team can help you find other alternatives, I think this catalog page for your faculty member would be a nice way to showcase their work.

Thanks John, This is helpful to know. I’m creating a guide for faculty with steps on marketing and showcasing their Pressbooks books. I was planning to provide instructions in the guide for how they could create a catalog page that they could link to when sharing their work. Since My Catalog is going away, would you recommend that I provide instructions for searching their name in our network catalog, and using that URL?

Thanks Lauren, that would be my recommendation. I like the look of the catalog page used like this and it is also a great way to emphasize the importance of complete metadata to improve the find-ability of their work.

Thanks John! I’ve added these instructions to the bottom of my LibGuide here.
