I have emojis in my manuscript and they show up in the exporting process. I just received a copy of my paperback from Amazon and all emojis are black blobs.
where is the disconnect having?
they are showing up on the ebook export though.

Not seeing what you mean by „blob“ I am guessing this:
For the emojis a specific font is used. The font is defined by the theme and optional custom CSS. I suspect, that the used font is not embedded into the PDF. If the font is unknown on the printing machine, then the emoji cannot be printed correctly. You could check for this in the PDF info of your file.
Did you send the digital pdf or the print pdf to KDP?
