If you’d like to announce an upcoming webinar, event, or conference presentation that you think would be of interest to the Pressbooks community, feel free to share details here.
Seyed Abdollah Shahrokni and Vanessa Lea Coffelt from Texas A&M University will be leading a ‘tea time’ discussion for Open Education Network members about their recent experience preparing second editions of OER textbooks at 1pm central this coming Monday, November 3. More details available on OEN’s calendar (you may need to log in to view the specifics): https://open.umn.edu/. I believe they will be discussing their work on Functions, Trigonometry, and Systems of Equations (Second Edition), a Precalculus textbook they recently published at Functions, Trigonometry, and Systems of Equations (Second Edition) – Simple Book Publishing.
@EDU_Managers We’re really excited to be hosting a webinar on “Navigating the 2026 Accessibility Requirements: Higher Ed Strategies and Approaches” from 12-1pm ET on Wednesday, November 12th. Here’s a description of the event:
The April 2026 deadline for ADA Title II digital accessibility compliance is fast approaching—and higher education institutions across the U.S. are grappling with how to prepare. The Pressbooks community is deeply engaged in this drive towards ensuring accessibility.
In this session, we’ll bring together a panel of institutional leaders who represent a range of experiences—from campuses that have spent years developing comprehensive accessibility strategies to those still struggling to overcome challenges like limited resources, competing priorities, or lack of institutional buy-in.
Join us to hear how institutions are:
- Identifying and prioritizing content that needs attention regarding accessibility
- Investing in training, tools, and partnerships to meet compliance requirements.
- Building sustainable accessibility practices and campus-wide processes to support digital publishing and other initiatives.
- Navigating internal challenges and cultural change around digital accessibility.
The event will feature panelists from Indiana University, University of Washington, Pima Community College and Maricopa Community Colleges. Register at Navigating the 2026 Accessibility Requirements: Higher Ed Strategies and Approaches - Pressbooks
