Theming pressbooks

Installation instructions state McLuhan and Aldine themes need to be active.
Is this a requirement ?

What do I gain/lose if I activate only one theme ?

What is the difference between them ?

Thanks

Aldine is the default theme for the home page of a Pressbooks network. It includes features like a catalog for books, contact form, et cetera. However, you can use a different theme if you don’t want these features.

McLuhan is an absolute requirement. It provides the reading interface for Pressbooks books on the web and the core files necessary for exports into PDF and EPUB/MOBI. If you do not have McLuhan installed, Pressbooks will not work.
