I teach undergraduate-level Editing for Usage and Style (typically 3rd and 4th year students in our Professional and Technical Writing major), and am looking for folks with OER works in progress that will be ready for a round of editing by mid-October.
For context: in the past two semesters teaching this course, my students have revised and condensed Brehe’s Grammar Anatomy because we were working on a new open textbook and grammar handbook for this class. However, that book is set to be published in the next week or so, to be piloted in the Fall. So, I need a new project for my students, and would love to partner with OER folks.
The works in progress can be for any discipline. The students would be editing text-based content for grammar usage and style, and they would be creating a brief stylesheet of their work to share with you as well. It would be lovely if you are open to giving the students credit for their work as contributing editors so they can include it in their portfolios, but I will leave that up to you and the students in your client-editor relationship. I am open to smaller and larger projects, and will give students the opportunity to work on them as either an individual editor (for smaller projects) or as a group (for larger projects). I would need ready-to-edit drafts sent to me by mid-October so that they have time to select a project, connect with you as their client for guidance specific to your project, and then start the work at the end of October.
