WordPress 7.0.6 was released on September 22 as a security update addressing an unauthenticated path traversal vulnerability that, under certain conditions, could lead to remote code execution. WordPress recommends updating sites immediately.
We have tested WordPress 7.0.6 with Pressbooks and confirmed compatibility with the latest release in Pressbooks 6.45.3.
We recommend that administrators of self-hosted and Open Source Pressbooks installations running Pressbooks 6.45.3 or later update to WordPress 7.0.6 as soon as possible to ensure that their sites receive the latest WordPress security fixes.
We have also updated our Pressbooks-hosted infrastructure to WordPress 7.0.6.
As always, we encourage administrators of self-hosted Pressbooks installations to keep both WordPress and Pressbooks up to date, particularly when security releases are published.
