I’m wondering if anyone knows of examples in which the “Display Book Contributors” feature has been used in a Pressbooks book to show a list of authors with picture/bio.
When I work with classes in which students are authoring chapters of a book, I like to show this feature as an option for listing the student authors. Often classes just choose to list the student author names on a Credits or About the Authors page they create themselves b/c it is quick and doesn’t require more work from students. But it would be great to show some real examples of a Book Contributors page using this feature so that they consider that as well.
You are right that creating an “About the Authors” page manually seems to be the most common way of adding a list of contributors. While adding a list of contributors to the back matter of the book is a relatively new feature, it is a comprehensive way of crediting each person for their contribution, whether they are an editor or an author or contributor. I found a book in our directory that utilizes “Contributors” as the Back Matter Type. I anticipate that this method will become more frequently used in Pressbooks in the future, but for now, it is not widely known about.
