Adding Drop Caps to a theme?

Hi all, we just had a faculty member express interest in adding support for ‘drop caps’ in their book. I don’t know if anyone has used these or has built them into their themes already? I’m aware of several ways that this can be done with CSS, as described here: https://webdesign.tutsplus.com/tutorials/better-css-drop-caps-with-initial-letter--cms-26350 and here, for example: https://css-tricks.com/snippets/css/drop-caps/, but am unsure what the best way to implement something like this is with an existing theme so that it behaved properly in the web book, epub, and PDF exports. Any ideas/advice much appreciated!

Hi Steel, you could test this using the new Custom Styles feature to begin with?

Definitely. That’s what I was learning toward, but wanted to hear whether others had done this and had advice to give. I’ll test soon and report back.

My report: implementing drop caps works great with custom styles!
