Known issue with videos not displaying in H5P activities

We’ve learned about a recent issue with videos not correctly displaying in H5P activities and wanted to share how to resolve it.

What you might see

Videos in any type of H5P activity may not display or display in the wrong place.

Why this happens

YouTube recently changed their implementation slightly and the H5P.Video library needed to be adjusted (the video would be pushed out of place or out of sight otherwise). H5P Group fixed this shortly after learning about this and released updates that can be installed.

What you may need to do

If you have H5P activities where videos do not dispaly as expected, you may have to update H5P libraries in the book, especially the libraries for the ‘Interactive Video’ type. If you do not have ‘Interactive Video’ H5P activity type installed, you may have to install it just in order to get a version of the H5P.Video library (bundled in Interactive Video 1.28.37 or higher) that fixes the issue.
Our User Guide has instructions on how to update H5P libraries in your books.
