Convert MS Word Footnotes function strips dollar sign $ symbol

I noticed by accident that when imported footnote text contains a dollar sign, using the built-in “convert MS Word Footnotes” button causes the dollar sign and some text that follows to be stripped from the converted footnote.

Example:
Importing text with a dollar sign character in a footnote[1] gets stripped.

[1] This is the footnote. It has a $1,000,000 reference in it. That should be the numeric equivalent of “one million dollars”.

Importing text with a dollar sign character in a footnote[footnote]This is the footnote. It has a ,000,000 reference in it. That should be the numeric equivalent of “one million dollars”.[/footnote] gets stripped

You’ll notice that the footnote is now missing the dollar sign and the number 1 following it. Upon discovering this, I can search for places where dollar signs appear in my footnotes and manually fix the missing ones. This doesn’t occur very often.

But, I wonder if whatever is causing this glitch also causes other characters or symbols to be dropped when using the convert footnotes button?

Hi there. Thank you for reporting this issue. I have filed a bug report and our team will look into this. I am not aware of any other characters or symbols being dropped.
